Mission

The mission of the National Exam Test Tool (NETT) is to enable students to understand the material covered in the National Primary School Exam (NPSE) and the Basic Education Certificate Exam (BECE) so that they can better prepare for these exams and achieve a higher overall score.

What is NETT?

NETT is a browser-based application which provides registered students and teachers with access to past NPSE and BECE exams. NETT provides immediate individualized and tailored feedback to each student who logs in and uses the highly interactive interface.

Who We Are

NETT has been developed using inputs from education professionals in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Initial design and operating functions were discussed with the Ministry of Education (MinEd) and West African Examinations Council (WAEC). Programming, development, and production has been completed by the Servant Heart Research Collaborative at the University of Maine (UMaine) Honors College in Orono, Maine, USA. UMaine students and faculty have worked with Sierra Leone Education Specialists and IT specialists in Maryland and Virginia to test, revise, and improve the application since 2017 to ensure compliance with the MinEd data security requirements. NETT is a highly effective tool in preparing students in Class 6 and Junior Secondary School 3 to successfully pass the NPSE and BECE.
